Why this petition matters

Started by Gale Hemingway

When the State of Vermont fully reopens by July 4th.  that should include Nursing Homes. There are no changes coming up to "fully open" for the people who need it most. The only ones who are excluded from this reopening in this State. We have been separated from family and loved ones for almost 15 Months except for 15 minute visits. I had great hope when the vaccine was made available that visits would eventually get back to "normal".  However this hope has died with many others. Months have elapsed without much change. I keep waiting and waiting. What are we waiting for?  Death of natural causes. There have been too many of those already without family. We are wasting valuable time.

These are the people without much time left or anything to look forward to. Do we need to continue to be the cause of their loneliness. Do we need to be separated when others in the State are not. We can travel, remove our masks and go about our normal life. We can even gather. We are safe now!  Except for the elderly?  Did they get a different vaccine? What does "fully reopen"mean?  If it does not include all them, it is not truly fully open.

I can not be the only family member who is extremely perplexed and frustrated by this inequity. I for one am beyond tired of loosing valuable time with my Mother. It can no longer be blamed on the virus. This is on the State. We NEED a change now. It is long overdue.
