Change in Fireworks Law
Change in Fireworks Law

We respectfully request that Vermont lawmakers revisit and change Fireworks Law Title 20, Chapter 177, Sections 3131-3136
1. Buying fireworks is legal for anyone over 21.
2. The use, possession, transportation, or explosion of fireworks is illegal without a permit; however, very few permits are requested/issued.
3. Fireworks exploding in the Rutland Region have become common.
4. Law enforcement of current fireworks law is difficult due to its’ low priority; and if tickets were given out, they would be thrown out, so as to not bog down our court systems.
5. We would like explosion of fireworks to be in the hands of those with permits and/or professionals only.
Fireworks disturb the peace; frighten those with special needs and PTSD; and frighten animals into behavior that could be harmful.
Please help us. Thank you.
