Verizon policy for deceased veterans

My family have been customers with Verizon for over 20 years. The account has always been in my grandfathers name with my grandmother & myself as account managers. However my grandfather recently passed so I called Verizon on 6/12/17 to have the account switched into my name, my grandfathers line disconnected, and also find out if we would still receive the 15% discount my grandfather got for being a veteran. So I spoke to a woman named brandy out of the Tennessee customer service center. She informed me my grandfather could remain an account manager on the account to continue to receive the 15% off & seeing as my grandmother is his wife they would honor that discount. Everything could be switched into my name with no problem. I had to call back later that day as I had to return back from my lunch at work. So I called & spoke to Latosha out of the SC customer service branch who informed me now none of this could be done. I also spoke to a Renee from transfers who called me back to double check on it & when I called back I got an Al out of the Georgia customer service branch. Needless to say the discount department would not honor the 15% off for a VETERANS WIFE! She receives every other benefit for my grandfathers sacrifice & our families sacrifice but not a 15% off discount! AT&T even offered it to her!! So after having Verizon for over 20 years we will be switching all over a discount! Oh & not to mention they wanted to raise my bill $20 a month to boot!! At the end of the day it's not about the discount it's about the loyalty we've had with Verizon & my grandfather being a veteran who is now deceased!! & when I told Al I would be switching he didn't even wince to keep us. Unbelievable company with no respect for the freedom my grandfather fought for. SHAME ON YOU VERIZON!!
