Support a Parks & Recreation Designation for New Haven Property

This property, located near the Vergennes Elementary High School, is close to Class II protected wetlands and is one of the few remaining open views into the city from Route 7.

A police station and sewage drain system is currently being considered for this property.

Please take action to secure this property for future Parks and Recreations planning.  Sign this peition and forward it to as many Vergennes residents as you know both through facebook or in an email with a link.  Together we can save our rural land.

Letter to
Vergennes City Council
I just signed the following petition addressed to: Vergennes City Council.

----------------
Support a Parks & Recreation Designation for New Haven Property

This property, located near the Vergennes Elementary High School, is close to Class II protected wetlands and is one of the few remaining open views into the city from Route 7.

Alderman Clare (Ziggy) Comeau, Alderman Randy Ouellette, and City Manager Melvin Hawley would like to use the New Haven property owned by the City of Vergennes for a police station. Alderman Comeau would like to use this site because, “It is free land.”

City Manager Hawley would also like to install a sewage drain system underneath these wetlands connecting the Vergennes Elementary and the Vergennes Union High Schools.

The Government is supposed to be in service to the community, not the other way around. The most important resource is PEOPLE. Please listen to THE PEOPLE.

We, the residents of Vergennes, would like to secure/designate this property for the exclusive use of parks and recreations in a manner that enhances, not encroaches upon the wetlands.

Please take action to secure this property for future Parks and Recreations planning.

Sincerely,
