Why this petition matters

Started by Alice Tyrrell

Chicken pox should be a mild childhood illness however it isn’t always the case.

When my eldest of 3 boys developed chicken pox in Feb 22 we didn’t expect him to end up being admitted to hospital let alone needing surgery in a London hospital due to secondary infections.

Then my 2 younger boys developed chicken pox. As you can imagine we were on high alert for any signs of secondary infections. So when the youngest of our sons showed signs we sought medical attention urgently. On arrival he was treated instantly for sepsis. Again secondary from Chicken pox!

Secondary infections are rare - but the hospitals have since informed me they are seeing more.

I am asking for a review of the Varicella vaccine being part of the routine vaccination schedule.
