I think that there is a way to be environmentally just as well as accessible to all. The park is public space for ALL to enjoy respite, not just one group.

We don’t need bike segregated lanes in Stanley Park. A little paint on the road would suffice.

The petition itself says it all. No one group of people has more right than others to enjoy the park. The park board will be willing to charge for entrance to the park if no vehicle is to enter, to compensate for the loss of parking revenue? Think not. Why is this even up for discussion? Listen, leave Stanley park alone, and we do not need more bike lanes either. Stop wasting tax payers’ money.

I lived in the Vancouver area for 17 years and as a young person used to jog/walk the entire seawall every weekend. I also remember taking all of our visitors from other countries and provinces through Stanley Park as it was, and is, the jewel of Vancouver. Now that I am older I cannot bike or walk that far. I live on Vancouver Island now, but every time we go to Vancouver we drive through beautiful world renowned Stanley Park. In a time when Inclusiveness is forefront in everyone’s minds how can this council even consider banning cars, and in effect, ban a majority of seniors as well as all physically disabled members of our society this special place that belongs to all proud British Columbians?

I have mobility issues. The first time I visited the park I was 10 years old. 57 years later I still look forward to spending time in that beautiful space and enjoying all that it has to offer. Closing it to motor vehicle traffic would make it impossible for me to ever visit again.
