SAVE PASSTOWN SCHOOL

SAVE PASSTOWN SCHOOL
Why this petition matters
The former Valley Township Municipal Building in Valley Township, Coatesville, Pennsylvania, was originally the Passtown Elementary School built in 1923 as a two-room schoolhouse. Two additional rooms were added in 1950.
The State Historic Preservation Office in Harrisburg, PA, has deemed the Passtown School Building as eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.
While the township would prefer to demolish the building, it is the desire of the community to preserve the Passtown Elementary School Building, since the building is the only remaining school building of that historical era in and around the Coatesville area which remains standing and in its original form.
As the Valley Township Municipal offices have moved to a new Municipal Building, we, the undersigned recognize the historical significance of the former Passtown Elementary School Building constructed by the Valley Township School Board in 1923. We desire and request that the building serve the community as a Community Recreation Center and Museum, serving the residents of Valley Township as a place where all ages (children, parents, and senior citizens) can enjoy activities and become more involved in the community.
Please sign this Petition to show that you support preserving the Passtown Elementary School for use as a community center and museum.
