Sue Ruopp started this petition to John Lee, LA City Council District 12

We are urging that "No Overnight Parking" signs be installed along Valley Circle Blvd between Victory and Kittridge to increase road safety in our community.

Under Vehicle Dwelling (LAMC 85.02), City Council has designated this stretch of road as a green zone which means that oversized vehicles can park there all hours and overnight.  However, as more and more of these vehicles park (some not moving for weeks now) it has become clear that they present a safety hazard for our community. Many drivers speed along Valley Circle.  Large parked vehicles are taking up the number 2 lane of traffic, forcing bicyclists into traffic lanes.  Turning out onto Valley Circle from Valley Circle Terrace has become dangerous, as it is impossible to see oncoming traffic in either direction.

Some of these vehicles have expired tags, and others have no license plates.  The owners are also parking their personal vehicles as well.  There are storage bins, trash, gas cans, propane tanks, power cords and other hazardous materials littering the sidewalks.  Not to mention the smell.

This is a main sidewalk for use by students walking to and from El Camino and Hale, and also used by ECR's cross country team during training.  The current condition presents a physical hazard to these students as is, and could potentially be a biological one as well.  In addition, there are two schools, the Montessori School and St. Bernadine's at both ends of this stretch of road.

Please sign this petition today to bring safety back to our neighborhood.  Thank you!
