My granddaughter, Grace is in 8th grade. She's 13 and this is the letter she wrote, " 'The average middle/high school student has the same anxiety levels as people put in mental hospitals in the '50's.' " (statistic from Google search.) The fact that teens would rather end their lives than deal with school tells us something's wrong. Whether bullying and/or cyberbulling, no one is held accountable in our school. The bullies make fun of your appearance, personality, they tell you to die, you're worthless, kill yourself, too short, too fat, too skinny, too pretty and it hurts. 160,000 kids stay home from school every day because of bullying. 4400 deaths per year by suicide among teens and for every one, there were almost 100 SUICIDE ATTEMPTS! Bully victims are between 2-9 times more likely to kill themselves. Last year I missed 50 days of school, I failed classes, I was sad, hurt, stressed and scared. I went back and tried so hard and every time, I was knocked back down. Kids are depressed, stressed, cutting themselves and dying. Please help support the children of the future by raising awareness of the tragedy of bullying.
