For many years, parents and girls from our district have approached the school to request a cheerleading squad at the Middle School-High School. Each time, the parents and the girls who wanted cheer were not provided the opportunity to do this. There have been discussions and for some years, there was not a "high enough" interest level or other small obstacles that we can work through. While there have been obstacles regarding interest level, we believe that offering the sport, will provide the opportunity for the interest level to grow. Many of us have attended a game and the words we've heard is "why don't we have a squad, we don't know why" or "it's embarrassing". Not providing the girls in the School the opportunity to participate in a sport they want to participate in, is not beneficial for them and excludes those students who don't have interest in other sports teams at the school.

We are looking to provide a petition from the community to the School Board to show that this community wants and deserves to at least provide our daughters the option to participate in an additional sport they want to participate in. Even if the squad only started off with 5 girls, the following years will expand and eventually, we'd like to provide the girls the option to be competitive.  

Discussions have already begun with the School and the Athletic Director. He has offered to approach the School Board and Leadership team as well and, but stated that the final decision is made by the School Board. 

Please sign our petition to present to the Board to help move this forward with starting our own Valhalla Cheer squad and helping support all students and providing inclusion for ALL.
