Impose a 20mph speed limit through the village of Peterston super Ely

Speeding is a major problem through the village. The village is a residential area but has limited pavements and no crossings. It also has a school with a large number of children crossing the road to get to school. One of our top priorities is to reduce the number of road accidents involving children and the elderly. There is evidence to suggest that carefully implemented 20mph speed limits contribute to improvements in road safety. A vehicle's speed is directly linked to the severity of injuries sustained in an accident. A pedestrian, if struck by a vehicle at 20mph, is likely to suffer slight injuries. At 30mph they would be severely hurt and at 40mph or above are likely to be killed.
