Many residents within Barry understand the need for suitable housing within the area, however the never ending torrent of flats being built in already over populated areas is making the town a miserable place to live.

It seems as though every tiny piece of land or under used building is being turned into flats without adequate parking and without any additional infrastructure being added to the town. 

The roads are busy and in a very poor state. Doctors, dentists and schools are over prescribed meaning residents are missing out on these essential facilities. There aren’t enough shops or leisure facilities such as cinemas or bowling alleys. 

Please listen to the residents who are genuinely worried about what the state of the town will be like in the next 5-10 years. Will there be more soulless flats than architecturally interesting or historically important buildings in the area? Will roads become more worn and dangerous due to lack of parking? Will many residents feel the need to move away from the area? I’m afraid the answer unfortunately is likely to be yes. 

It is such a shame as Barry could have a really good mixture of old and new with some amazing facilities, yet unfortunately the residents rarely get a say. Well now this is your chance to have your say!
