Let’s get to 1,000

Close to 600 signatures. Let’s get to 1,000. The Alpine Region, Mt Hotham, Falls Creek and all the surrounding townships have endured considerable economic hardship from the devastating bushfires January to March and then the Covid restrictions where we saw Melbourne go into Stage 3 restrictions again in July and Vail Resorts suspended lift operations for Mt Hotham and Falls Creek, even though these 2 resorts are 4.5 hours away and NOT in stage 3 restrictions. This impacted the Alpine Region economically. It has been more than 6 months now that the region has been impacted and the region is not in stage 3 restrictions. What happens in Melbourne should not impact what happens in the Alpine region, Mt Hotham and Falls Creek. When Mt Hotham and Falls Creek do not operate lifts, the economic implications are substantial for the entire region and the resorts themselves. Mt Hotham and Falls Creek are the backbone for economic stability and growth In winter and during the declared snow season for thousands of businesses and hundreds of communities. Suspending lift operations has crippled the regional economy. With Covid 19 safety protocols in place, there should be support for re-commencing lift operations at Hotham and Falls Creek and getting back to business. Ski resorts should be able to operate safely with all the protocols put in place by the government and Vail Resorts.
