As students of the Department of Architecture and the Built Environment at UWE our last face-to-face exam was 2.5 years ago in January 2020. Since then, as undergraduate students’, exams have been online and our studies have been massively affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, resulting in higher levels of anxiety and mental well-being issues impairing social interaction and academic success.  Why now is our last ever exam in May 2022 face-to-face?  The students graduating this year in 2022 have been the ones most affected by COVID both mentally and academically.  As we speak, todays and next week’s Valuations lectures are online, so why not the final exam?

A face-to -face exam at the final hurdle when we have all survived a less than perfect University experience due to COVID is increasing our anxiety levels and causing undue and unnecessary stress on our mental well-being.

We the undersigned petition UWE Department of Architecture and the Built Environment to allow the final Valuations Exam module UBLMGQ-30-3 to be an online exam with a 24-hour window as per other modules.
