This campus needs to be safe for ALL, and the harassment and extremism propagated by YAF needs to stop. Stop the violence against LGBTQ+ individuals. Stop the harassment of ASM. Stop sending every little thing you disagree with on this campus to the conservative media. @ members of YAF: You are ignorant, blinded by your privilege, and perpetuating the kind of hostile campus climate many of us were afraid of when Trump won the election. The University of Wisconsin is better than this.

I feel bad for UW administration; I imagine it is ridiculously difficult to try and keep finances fair and efficient while appealing to publicity. It's also difficult to foster a diverse campus while still respecting ideas like the first amendment/alt-right opinions/conservatism. I'm hoping if enough people sign the petition, you can blame having taken sides on the petition. I don't mind. Thanks for doing what you do and keep up the tricky but much-appreciated work.

As a university it is your duty to educate. As a university, you are allowed to define hate speech as a violation of codes (it's not limiting free speech, it's respecting a code of conduct that ensures the university is a place for everyone.) Disagreements can involve a magnitude of areas, and are wonderful and essential for critical thinking. But a group that doesn't think of some people as human beings entitled to basic rights, is not a disagreement. It's a threat to the health and safety of others.
This is why the University needs racial, sexual orientation and disability training. We deserve to be treated as people.

Prejudice and hate cannot safely hide behind the falsely used veil of conservatism. This is not conservatism.

Given their platform of intimidation and invalidating the very real plights of minorities, I feel that people's right to feel secure surpasses this organization's right to free speech.

I'm signing because I don't want to feel ashamed of attending this University when stories of hate speech and hate driven acts reach the news and social media. I want to feel proud of where I received my education, not ashamed because certain individuals were allowed to take their opinions of hate to the next level. I came to this institution 4 years ago felling proud of where I as going, I want to leave feeling proud of where I've been.

UW Madison should be a safe place for all students, not just the privileged few.
