Andrew Cloutier started this petition to UVM Students and Faculty

Hi everyone!
I have a meeting with some of the UVM dinning execs this Thursday and I want them to actually take me seriously. Please help by signing this thing so we can try and make the dinning plans work better for more people!

Please help to support me to make UVM dinning work for everyone by singing this petition to show how many people there are that want the system to work for us!

Also if you have any ideas / points / evidences I should bring up, let me hear them.

I am a student in CESS (College of Education and Social Services) at UVM. Next semester I will be conducting my student teaching. We have to be at our designated schools by 7:45a.m. No dinning options or points options will allow for me to get breakfast. The unlimited swipe system would not allow me to eat breakfast or lunch on any weekday. The points system only allows students 13$ a day, which equals about 1.5 to 2 meals a day at UVM retail locations. I was just wondering, 1. Is it possible for the Marche, Redstone Market, and other accessible UVM retail locations to open at 7:00a.m. (perhaps one per campus)? 2. Why is it that students only receive about 13$ a day on the points plan? 15$ would barely be enough to feed a student, who only drinks water, three strategically thought out meals a day at UVM. I know that there are UVM students with similar, and definitely more serious, food and dinning struggles. I hope I can advocate properly for all of us.

I don't want to place any blame or shame on any dinning staff member. I just come from a place of concern, for my self, for my friends, and for any on campus residents who may face food scarcity in the future at UVM due to its restrictiveness.

One thing I want to mention is cost to worth for the 3 traditional plans:
OPTION 1: Unlimited Access + 350 Retail Points + 6 Guest Meals = $2466 per semester. This option has decent value for students who do not have to work and who do not have internships starting in the morning.

OPTION 2: Unlimited Access + 100 Retail Points + 3 Guest Meals = $2207 per semester. This option also has decent value for students who do not have to work and who do not have internships starting in the morning.

OPTION 3: 1425 Retail Points + 25 Meals = $2207 per semester. This is perhaps the most problematic plan at UVM, and the cost to worth ratio is not currently acceptable.

Additionally: All on-campus residents are required to have a meal plan.

On top of that: I think I know where the arbitrary number of 1425$ comes from, and wether or not I am right, I have to disagree with the decision. The average cost for food for one person in Burlington, VT is about 12.50$ a day. That multiplied by 7 (per week) and then again by 16 (weeks in second / longer semester) is 1400$. This number could be an okay if the prices around campus were not inflated as they are.

Again, please help to support me to make UVM dinning work for everyone by singing this petition to show how many people there are that want the system to work for us!
