SPV (Special Purpose Vehicles) can be now be licensed in the state of WV, that includes SXS and UTVs. SB-690 requires an individual may acquire license to run their vehicle on the streets of WV if they have the proper equipment. ie: turn signals, horn, mirrors, plate light, and proper tires. These are legal on non highway roads 55mph and below, up to 25 miles on double line, and unlimited miles unlined road. Thousands of people have already applied, with hundreds already inspected and enjoying their vehicle on the blacktop. The county of Kanawha has retrofitted an ordinance placed in 2004 originally applied to a ATV, stating this should apply to UTV and SPV. This ordinance bans the use of our machines on the roads, regardless of state code, or license plates. Many individuals have already spent money not only on the tags, they have also spent money on street legal kits with intentions to use their vehicles to tour our beautiful county. Please help us reach out to the commissioners office and appeal this ordinance. Also, keep this civil, the best way to approach this!
