Changing the format of the final chemistry exam from locked (one question at a time) to open (all questions at once) will have a positive impact on the mental health of the CHMA11H3 students. Students are already facing difficult times during the COVID-19 pandemic and it would take a load off the student’s shoulders

Locked exams are:

 - Inefficient: Forces students to submit an inadequate answer in order to finish within the time limit; this does not allow for revision and allocation of time for more difficult questions. The locked formatting has been proven to be faulty based on the results of the CHMA10H3 midterm from the 2020 fall semester.

 - Stressful: The global pandemic has removed the interactive aspect of learning in a university environment. Despite the change in the medium of learning, the quantity and difficulty of questions remain the same. The final exam season is already stressful on its own, and the implementation to showcase one question at a time adds unnecessary pressure to students who are looking to manage their time efficiently and achieve a passing grade.

We are appreciative of the Chemistry department for all of their hard work this semester, and believe this change would be of great help.
