Hi, we are a group of students from Global Sustainability Science at Utrecht University. 

We are committed to a challenge aiming to increase biodiversity in our beautiful city. We took inspiration from an existing project in Rotterdam so we thought, why not transfer it here as well.

Rotterdam's municipality changed the grass areas of the city by planting bee-friendly seeds instead of cutting the grass. Keeping the grass trimmed required a lot of maintenance, allowing flowers to grow freely in specific biodiversity areas allows us to improve the insect population of the city (think bees, butterflies, ladybugs...).

How many times do you see cut grass left at the side of the street while biking? Wouldn't it be better to see flowers and bees? 

if you are wondering, why do you have to sign this petition, well bees, as pollinators, are crucial in the growth process of plants and trees.
