If you live in West Campus you know how many people daily use an electric scooter to get to and from class. Companies such as Bird, Lime Bike and Uber are companies whose scooters cover West Campus. It is a great concept and people seem to love the idea of it, but a large problem that stems from these scooters are people not obeying proper street laws. The scooters are meant to be driven on the street as a motorized vehicle, so that means they must obey the correct street laws. Many times when I am driving my car and I approach a stop sign in West Campus I wait my turn and as I am about to advance through the intersection, someone on a scooter runs the stop sign and cuts me off thus causing me to have to slam on my breaks.

I know I am not the only one who lives in the West Campus area who has problems with scooter drivers not obeying street laws. I ask if UTPD could station an officer or two on bikes in west campus watching those stop signs to help contain an issue that could potentially if not dealt with could lead to severe injuries.
