Utah Executive Order to Close Client Contact Non-essential Businesses
As of April 2nd, 2020, in Southern Utah, there has been no executive order closing businesses that are non-essential, but which frequently come in close physical contact with the public.
These businesses include, but are not limited to massage therapists, hair and nail salons, tattoo and piercing studios, and estheticians.
This impacts small business owners who are:
1) seeing their revenue drop dramatically without being able to benefit from state sponsored support, and
2) having to ask their, often commission or hourly based employees, to work in an environment which is putting themselves and their clients at greater risk for lower pay.
Employees must perform non-essential work by being in frequent physical contact with their clients. This impacts families who are caretakers of children, parents, and/or grandparents who are immunocompromised, putting them and their families at greater risk for non-essential care.
