Kirsten Eriksson started this petition to Utah Governor

Utah is in the midst of a modern day nonsensical prohibition. Denying bars and restaurants the ability to serve liquor past 10 PM is not only detrimental to local business, but also makes no sense.

Establishments are allowed to continue serving food, water, and sodas well past 10 PM. But are being denied the ability to serve alcohol, which is the main source of income for all bars. This is an attack on alcohol and not a reasonable response to any COVID situation. Most bars peak hours start at 10 PM. Fines up to $10,000 as well as liquor licensing is being held over bar owners heads as a threat. Serving alcohol past 10 PM is not violating any liquor laws. Stating that a bar could lose their liquor license, something not easily obtained, is unlawful on the DABC and Governs part.  In an already suffering economy, the Governor has chosen to cause even more suffering to bar owners and employees. Denying business at peak hours that are crucial to these local loved bars, breweries, restaurants, and more.

All this started with more COVID guidelines being introduced to help prevent the spread. COVID is very real. It is dangerous. It needs to be handled logically. Ending liquor sales after 10 PM is illogical and frankly an attack on the subject of alcohol being right or wrong in the eyes of the state. It is not a COVID subject or a COVID driven issue. It's very much so the state trying to create a modern day prohibition. One that will have many businesses suffering and closing for no solid reason. COVID doesn't come out after 10:01 PM. This ridiculous and unlawful act of state needs to be stopped. There are many other ways to handle the spread of COVID that do not cause loss of jobs, income, and businesses shutting down in general.
