Expand the Services for Students with Disabilities Office

I am a current freshman registered with the Services for Students with Disabilities Office (SSD) who struggles with a learning disability. The first time I was scheduled to take an exam at this facility, I was surprised and disappointed in the resources they had available to UT students. For instance, there is only one testing room which can fit a maximum of 10 students at a registered time. The SSD staff is also relatively small compared to the amount of students they mentor. In conclusion, the Services for Students with Disabilities available resources do not sufficiently aid the large disabled population at UT. Signing this petition will demonstrate the need and concern for UT students and encourage the expansion of physical necessities, whether that be supplying additional faculty or receiving a larger testing room. In reality, the SSD deserves its own building, and this petition will persuade this need.
