Prevent UT from Increasing Tuition Prices
This petition had 500 supporters
The University of Texas’s Tuition Policy Advisory Committee (TPAC) is considering a 2% increase in tuition costs for all undergraduate and graduate students here at The University of Texas at Austin, and they are looking for our feedback. This percentage translates to an increase of $104 for resident undergraduates, $367 for non-resident undergraduates, $94 for resident graduates, and $183 for non-resident graduates per semester. This increase in tuition adds up to approximately a $15 million increase in the university’s yearly budget. With a yearly budget of a whopping $2.975 billion, this increase in tuition accounts for only a 0.5% increase in the overall budget. If tuition should increase, it would have a more profound effect on each student than it would on increasing the budget for the university. With such a sizable budget, I believe the university could reallocate their spending to increase the efficiency of their current budget. It is important for us as students to communicate our opposition towards this tuition increase recommendation to avoid this from being an option for increasing the university’s budget. Prevent yourself and the rest of the student population here at UT from having to pay more for our education by signing my petition.
