Apa yang kalian bayangkan saat mendengar kata penulis eksklusif? Apalagi penulis di platform ternama, GoodNovel yang berada dibawah naungan New Reading. Mungkin kalian berpikir "Wah hebat, pasti karyanya best seller." Atau "Wah enak ya kontraknya pasti eksklusif terus, di GoodNovel kan susah dapat kontrak eksklusif." Mungkin juga dugaan indah-indah lainnya, tapi percayalah yang kami alami sebagai penulis eksklusif (EGN) tidak seindah itu kawan.

Kami yang terikat kontrak selama 5 tahun, tidak bisa menulis di platform selain GN selama periode kontrak harus mengalami hal yang tak terduga. Pendapatan kami menurun drastis, dan kami kurang mendapat dukungan promosi di aplikasi, bahkan beberapa penulis tidak bisa menikmati pendapatan setiap bulan. Untuk masalah ini kami masih bisa memaklumi, yah mungkin kualitas buku kami menurun, pembaca menemukan bacaan lebih menarik, promosi memang bergantian.

Namun satu hal yang sangat mengganjal dan menjadi puncak dari kekesalan kami adalah saat pengumuman lomba menulis dengan tema Jatuh Bangun Kejar Restu yang diumumkan melalui Instagram https://www.instagram.com/p/CdYHJROP6d1/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

Pengumuman itu sungguh mengecewakan, sebab pemenang lomba bukan peserta. Bagaimana kami tahu? Kami memiliki rekam layar peserta lomba, tangkapan layar persyaratan lomba yang masing-masing buku hanya bisa mengikuti satu plot kategori, dan peserta wajib menyertakan tagar lomba yang diikuti. Pada buku pemenang tidak ada tagar #salahsasaran #terhalangstatus #terhalangtradisi atau #kejarrestu yang wajib untuk disertakan. Pemenang justru menggunakan tagar #Dongengmasakini yang menjadi tagar kompetisi lain.

Tentu ini menjadi pertanyaan bagi kami, dan baru terjawab sore hari 11/05/2022, dimana pihak GoodNovel Indonesia menyatakan kalau tidak semua peserta lomba ditampilkan di web. Dari 314 buku yang ikut serta banyak yang tidak memenuhi syarat diantaranya jumlah kata yang kurang, tidak sesuai dengan tema. Pertanyaan kami kenapa harus peserta dari kategori lomba lain yang menjadi pemenang? Jika tidak ada yang memenuhi syarat bukankah sebaiknya durasi lomba diperpanjang atau dibatalkan saja? Apalagi pemenang lomba setelah dikonfirmasi mengatakan bisa mengikuti dua lomba sekaligus, padahal dalam aturannya tidak boleh dan seharusnya di diskualifikasi, tapi malah menjadi pemenang. Sebagai informasi penulis lain tidak bisa mengikut sertakan dua kategori lomba sekaligus dan itu sudah diatur oleh sistem (kami punya bukti tangkapan layarnya). 

Disini kami sebagai penulis EGN dan mungkin juga peserta lain yang bukan EGN mendapatkan perlakuan yang tidak adil, merasa dicurangi. Melalui petisi ini kami meminta agar pihak New Reading selaku atap dari GoodNovel menindaklanjuti kecurangan ini, batalkan atau kaji ulang lomba Jatuh Bangun Kejar Restu. Jika memang tidak bisa, kami selaku EGN meminta agar lepaskan saja status kami sebagai EGN, karena kecurangan ini sudah tidak bisa kami toleransi lagi, kami khawatir kalau ke depannya akan muncul kecurangan-kecurangan lain.

What do you think of when you hear the word exclusive writer? The author is on the well-known platform, GoodNovel which is under the auspices of New Reading. You may think, “Wow, great, his work must be a best seller.” Or “Well, it’s good, the contract must be exclusive, it’s hard to get an exclusive contract at GoodNovel.” 

 

There may also be other beautiful assumptions, but believe me, what we experienced as exclusive writers (EGN) in Indonesia is not as beautiful as that, my friend. 

 

We, who are under contract for 5 years, cannot write on platforms other than GN during the contract period should experience the unexpected. Our revenue dropped drastically, and we didn’t get any promotion support in the app. Even some writers couldn’t enjoy the monthly income. For this one, we can still understand, well maybe the quality of our books has decreased, readers find more interesting book, promotions are indeed alternate.

 

However, one thing that really stuck and became the peak of our frustration was when the announcement of the writing competition with the theme ‘Jatuh Bangun Kejar Restu’ was announced via Instagram https://www.instagram.com/p/CdYHJROP6d1/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= The announcement was really disappointing, because the winners of the competition were not participants.

 

 How do we know? We have screenshots of the contestants, screenshots of the competition requirements where each book can only follow one category plot, and participants are required to include the hashtag of the competition they are taking part in. In the winning book, there is no hashtag #salahsasaran #terhalangstatus #tradition or #kejarrestu that must be included. The winner used the hashtag #Dongengmasakini which became the hashtag for another competition. 

 

Of course, this is an enormous question for us, and it was only answered on the afternoon of 11/05/2022, where GoodNovel Indonesia stated that it displayed not all contestants on the web. Of the 314 books that took part, most of the books hasn’t reach the requirements including the number of words that were lacking, not under the theme.

 

 Our question is why should participants from other competition categories be the winners? If no book fit with the requirements, shouldn’t the duration of the contest be extended or cancelled? The winner of the competition, after being confirmed, said she could take part in two competitions at once, even though in the rules he should not and should be disqualified, but became the winner. For your information, other authors cannot enter two categories of competitions at once and that the system already regulated (we have screenshot proof) and it’s confirmed by the editor.

 

 Here we as EGN writers of Indonesia and maybe other participants who are not EGN get unfair treatment, get cheated. Through this petition, we request that New Reading as the roof of GoodNovel follow up on this fraud, cancel or review Jatuh Bangun Kejar Restu Contest. If this is not possible, we as EGN want to release our status as EGN, because we can no longer tolerate this fraud, we are worried that in the future other frauds will appear.
