In USPSA you may only stipulate the use of strong/weak hand only shooting for "no more than the last 6 shots required" (1.1.5.4), and only for "medium or long courses".  This greatly hinders interesting and innovative stage design and prohibits the creation of short single hand only stages often seen in IPSC matches.

Our proposal is to modify the current rule 1.1.5.4 to allow the stipulation of strong/weak hand only shooting to mimic the  IPSC rule 1.1.5.3.  "General Courses and Classifiers may specify shooting strong hand or weak hand only without the need to enforce compliance using physical means (e.g. hook-and-loop fasteners etc.). The specified hand must be used exclusively from the point stipulated for the remainder of the stage."

Another option is to modify the 1.2.1.1 description of short courses to allow the use of SHO/WHO shooting and remove the 2 position limit.

In USPSA matches you rarely see the use of strong/weak hand shooting.  This is due to the restrictions in the rule book and the inclusion of PCC which limits stage design forcing prop manipulation that could also force a PCC shooter to use only a single hand.  Understanding this is for safety, allowing stage designers to safely stipulate the use of strong/weak - hand/side shooting during any course of fire without the need for prop manipulation will enhance the options to test the single-handed shooting skills of our competitors.
