Ever since hurricane María, Puerto Rico has been plagued with subpar service from the USPS. Be it for political or geographical issues, it is evident that we have a huge problem as it is. This has largely been aggravated by the pandemic and its lasting effects on the economy and it’s people who have suffered immensely from stagnant wages, governmental debt and personal hardships.

As of now, PR postal workers are clamoring for an additional 350 employees to keep up with the ever growing demand of e-commerce. In an age where everything from groceries, school and even medicinal supplies are being sold online at a way lower cost than brick and mortar stores, it is imperative to have a system that can meet the expectations of a populace that with every bit of sacrifice do what they must to save a penny for future rainy days, even when data shows it’s a seemingly impossible task.

I don’t wanna get into the “PR’icans are US Citizens” debate, but the thing is that WE ARE! There’s not even a notice of the systemic delays that we are confronting on the USPS website as there is for every other state in the union. If anything, people would think there’s nothing going on here, but the complaints and the issues are real.

Please consider this petition. Puerto Ricans want to work. You will have no problem filling up those 350 positions and, if possible, maybe even more.
