Madeline Medica started this petition to USHJA and

As a rider who's last junior year is this year, it has come to my attention that COVID-19 has affected the USHJA show schedule during these past months and canceled many shows and circuits that junior riders were looking forward to. By cancelling these shows, the horse show organizations are doing their part to make sure that the hunter-jumper community is staying safe. While we acknowledge that everyone is making sacrifices, this is the last junior year for riders who turn 18. These cancellations have hindered our ability to showcase our talents at these shows and experience a last memorable junior year. This being said, it is my suggestion that USHJA extends the age requirement for the juniors who are turning 18 this year, and change it to let us compete as 18 year olds in the junior level of next year. This would only go into effect if the horse show season was to be cancelled past the month of May 2020. My proposition is that this action would go into place the day that quarantine ends and the show season starts back up again. 365 days later all USHJA riders the age of 18 would then move past junior competitions and progress into their career as adult competitors. Please support this petition to get the attention of USHJA President, Mary Babick, or any of the other members of the USHJA organization.
