Nicholas Jensen started this petition to USC President Carol Folt

In light of USC's downright embarrassing loss at the hands of Oregon on Saturday, 56-24, the reign of Clay Helton must end. His five-year tenure at USC has been marred by backbreaking penalties, a lack of preparation, a poor turnover differential, and gut-wrenching losses.

USC used to be considered a perennial National Championship contender, but now is lucky to even break the Top 25 rankings. USC has demonstrated their tremendous talent on the field, but continually fails to put together four quarters of quality football against top-tier football programs. To make matters worse, USC's recruiting has started to falter. Clay Helton was able to consistently lead the PAC-12 in recruiting every year, while being in the Top 10 nationally. However, USC is currently third in the PAC-12 and 20th nationally this year, and 10th in the PAC-12 and 66th nationally in 2020. This is completely unacceptable. The lack of on-field performance combined with a steep decline in recruiting makes the decision to fire Clay Helton quite simple.

This was an action that was needed last year, and continued inactivity could set back the football program years. Just look at Nebraska, they failed to relieve Mike Riley promptly and now it could be years until this once football powerhouse is able to return to relevancy. USC won the Rose Bowl just four seasons ago. It is not too late to right the ship and return USC football back to its status as a National Championship contender!!!
