USA Gymnastics CEO Steve Penny: RESIGN FROM YOUR POSITION.

Steve Penny, CEO of USA Gymnastics, delayed reporting allegations of serious sexual abuse by former USA Gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar for FIVE WEEKS after being informed of the behavior.

On June 17, 2015, an elite-level gymnast's mother informed a member of USA Gymnastics staff of the abuse by Dr. Nassar.  This staff member immediately informed Steve Penny of the allegation.

Steve waited five weeks to report the abuse to law enforcement officials, after telling the gymnast's mother that he didn't feel police needed to be involved.

Although both Texas and Indiana state laws require this type of abuse to be reported to law enforcement immediately, they felt it was not necessary.

Rather than reporting, USA Gymnastics hired an internal investigator to speak to the mother and the gymnast.  This action was an immediate conflict of interest, as USA Gymnastics would not be able to clear this themselves, and especially not with their own internal investigation.

More than 60 gymnasts have come forward with allegations of abuse by Dr. Nassar, who is currently in jail without the possibility of bond while awaiting charges for possession of child pornography.

Steve Penny's lack of action in regards to Dr. Larry Nassar could have potentially allowed for more abuse to take place.

Steve Penny, we demand that you step out of your role with USA Gymnastics. You cannot be trusted to care first and foremost about the health and well-being of the athletes your organization represents. Please give the athletes a fair shot and resign.
