The European Union must act now to ensure the democratic rights of its member states, and launch an investigation to determine if Malta no longer is able to support the rule of law.

On October 16th, 2017 a vibrant, intelligent, and ferociously independent woman was literally blown to bits, the victim of a callous car bomb planted in the car she was driving.  This woman was Daphne Caruana Galizia a well known but controversial journalist on the Mediterranean island country of Malta. Demand that the European Union Parliament and Court investigate why she was silenced.

Other than regretting senseless killing of human life why should people, and especially if they live outside of Malta, care?  I personally live in the US, and I care because it is clear she was killed to muzzle her voice.  A voice that was exposing corruption in all areas and levels of the Maltese government.  A voice that was exposing the billions of dollars of illicit monies laundered through Maltese on line casinos.  Demand that the European Union Parliament and Court investigate why she was silenced.

Her brutal murder is an attack on journalistic freedom, not just in Malta but around the world.  A freedom that supports democracy.  The money that is laundered undoubtedly includes money from organized crime in the US, Europe, China, and indeed the world; perhaps even terrorist groups. Demand that the European Union Parliament and Court investigate why she was silenced.

The world cannot afford to have a corrupt country voting in an international body as powerful as the EU.  Demand that the European Union Parliament and Court investigate why she was silenced.
