The United Nations’ Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children, defines human trafficking as “an act of recruitment, transportation, transfer, or receiving persons by force or deception for the use of exploitation (a person being used in an unfair way to benefit someone else).” Some examples are forced labor, sexual exploitation, servitude, and the removal of organs. According to the Human Trafficking Organization, every minute of the day, a woman or child is sold, and 80% of these victims are female. 50% are children. 300,000 members of armies and militias today are victims of trafficking. Indian companies may overwork employees, causing health problems such as sleep disorders and depression. Please help us to spread awareness of this horrible crime!
