Why this petition matters

Started by Ella Reither

The Fostering Connections to Success and Increasing Adoptions Act, passed in 2008, provides federal funding and promotion of permanent families, housing, education, and health care for those aging out of the Foster Care System. The purpose of the Act is to aid in the transition from Foster Care to independent life. It extends the aging out age from 18 to 21 by continuing Foster Care programs and assistance in becoming independent.

Currently, only 25 States have extended Foster Care beyond the age of 18. Not only does the Act increase Foster Care age, but it also promotes permenant homes and a successful future. We are calling for our national government to require that every state adopt every aspect of The Fostering Connections to Success and Increasing Adoptions Act of 2008 which will bring a much needed change to ensure that the outcome of those aging out of the Foster Care System experience a positive future.
