JUSTICE FOR CHRISTOPHER LAMONT CANNON
JUSTICE FOR CHRISTOPHER LAMONT CANNON
Why this petition matters

Due to the way the criminal justice system operates...the unfairness, the injustice and mishandling of cases on the federal level, Mr. CHRISTOPHER LAMONT CANNON still remains incarcerated, despite meeting every criteria under THE CARES ACT OF 2020 and for COMPASSIONATE RELEASE under 18 USC 3582(c)(1)(A) where he was eligible for an immediate release from federal prison. Mr Cannon was convicted for a non-violent heroin drug offense in 2015 and was subsequently sentenced to 13 years imprisonment, plus, 4 years of Supervision upon his release. This totaling a full term of 17 years he'd have to be under the custody and control of the federal authorities for a non violent drug offense. Mr Cannon having served 50% of his 13 year prison term by the time THE CARES ACT of 2020 came into law which authorized the attorney generals office to release prisoners who were deemed vulnerable and susceptible to catching COVID-19 based on a prisoners pre-existing conditions. Mr. Cannons medical records reflects that he has (1) High blood pressure; and (2) is obese. All of such pre-existing conditions that could cost him his life were he to contract any of the Corona virus strains that's running ramped throughout the United States. Mr Cannon has served over 50 percent of his sentence with just a few years remaining. No evidence exist that if released back into society that he would be a threat or danger to anyone. But let the Prosecuting Attorney tell its version, he says that Mr Cannons juvenile record supports he is a danger. This was the only excuse the government used to keep Mr. Cannon behind bars and the U.S. district Judge agreed with the governments position in an order filed by the US district Judge early 2021. Mr Cannons projected release date is September 4, 2025. But that date is even the more suspect with the ongoing Global Pandemic that's continuing to take people's lives by the minutes. Mr Cannon fears that with his medical conditions he may lose his life in prison as he has seen many of his fellow prisoners lose theirs. Mr. Cannon calls for the appropriate departments in the federal government to balance the scales of ⚖ justice so he could get a fair shake under the law. Mr. Cannon is rehabilitated and is ready to be a productive member of society. His family and close friends has eagerly anticipated his release for many years and even the more now due to the pending Pandemic. They stand ready to receive him with care and assistance to help him adjust back into the community. For Mr. Cannon, his release from prison at this point very well means a higher probability of him surviving the Pandemic as it is a fact that being in the prison setting heightens the risk of him contracting COVID-19 and dying. Mr. Cannon prays that his plea for fundamental Justice does not fall on deaf ears.
