A large portion of National Park, NJ has been serviced by part time, inconsistent postal carriers. Mail is sometimes not delivered for 5 days straight, it is consistently delivered to the wrong addresses. There are reports of carriers signing for registered mail without consent of the homeowner. The carriers have little regard for the age old "red flag" for outgoing mail and simply leave it in the box. The postal customer is occasionally forced to track down the truck to get their own mail because the carrier simply leaves it in the truck for the next guy. Customers who call the regional office are "pink-tagged" for complaint.
The solution is simple we are asking that the Postal Service post our route for a full time carrier. We feel it is important to have a consistent carrier who can learn the route, the people and have a personal connection and sense of community with the residents.
One strong example of the complete disconnect ..... I have been leaving frozen water bottles in our mailbox, on days over 90 degrees, for whichever carrier we have
And today the carrier took a good look into the mailbox, retrieved the water, left my incoming mail, and a very important outgoing package that had to post today. This left me to drive the package to the post office and basically do the carriers job for them.
