Government representation of non-religiously affiated people in the United States.

Non-religiously affiliated people make up more than 20% of the American population. (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irreligion_in_the_United_States , https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/the-number-of-americans-with-no-religious-affiliation-is-rising/ This is more than any other religious group, including Evangelical Christians at 17.5%.
However, we are not represented adequately in our government and even vilified. ( https://www.npr.org/2017/01/03/508037656/non-religious-americans-remain-far-underrepresented-in-congress ) Having a religion, any religion, is often still necessary to realistically pursue political office.
This needs to change.
It needs to be known far and wide that we need and deserve representation. We need our philosophies valued equally with religous people within our secular government. (See Article 11 of https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_of_Tripoli .)
If you have no religious affiliation or if you simply believe that all people regardless of faith should be represented, please sign this petition and give politians the courage to run on our issues and stand up for us.
