Michael Yarrows started this petition to US House Representative John Larson

Individuals ages 18-64, who have a neurological disability, currently face unequal care options in Connecticut and across the country. Congress is considering the Adult Day Center Enhancement Act of 2021 (H.R. 253), which will end the disparity in healthcare treatment they face by federally funding more specialized, community-based care centers.

These individuals require long-term supports and services (LTSS) daily. The most economical and effective treatment setting for them is found to be community-based facilities, such as adult day centers. However, there is a severe lack of adult day centers in Connecticut. Most of these organizations are oriented towards caring for older adults, who suffer from neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's. H.R. 253 provides a solution to this deficiency. The reduced quality of life held by these patients and their family caregivers would be significantly improved with a specialized, community option.

This bill has been introduced in the House of Representatives; show your support before voting begins by signing this petition and contacting CT Representative John Larson. You have the opportunity to bring justice to thousands of lives filled with hardship today. Thank you.
