Changing back and forth from one time to the next is stressful, is associated with health problems such as heart attacks and increased accidents. In addition, the crime rate significantly drops with daylight savings time and more light in the evening.

I believe that people are more likely to go out in the afternoon and be more active if they have an extra hour. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to take that walk or go on that bike ride when you get home from work versus getting home in the dark and sitting in front of the TV.

I believe that we may also potentially use less energy, enjoy more daylight hours and be happier with more natural light at the end of the day. We would no longer have to dread losing that extra hour in the afternoon going into winter with already short days.

With 42% of Americans who are obese and that number expected to rise, increased activity in daylight hours at the end of the day could help to decrease that number and increase the overall health of the population. Think of all the people who would be able to get out and go for a walk with their dog or children when they get home from work.  Think of all of the children outside playing when they return from school.
