Jason Jeffries started this petition to US Federal Government

Currently, the US Military targets high school students as their primary source of members. I was one of them. I enlisted at 17 years old, far too early in my life to have an understanding of the ramifications of such a life-changing decision. Yet, the US Governent feels children are adequately prepared to enter military service, something many have proven is demanding on their emotional and mental health. We have seen a tremendous increase in suicide amongst military members, likely due to the exposure to very tragic events at a young age.

The human brain is not fully developed until the age of 25, according to professionals. The age for consuming alcohol is 21 and soon it will be the same for tobacco products. Why? Because the US Federal Government feels people under that age are not capable of making a decision about their physical health with respect to alcohol and tobacco use.

How can anyone of sound mind deem military service OK for youth but not alcohol or tobacco use? Simple. They don’t care. They want our young men and women to give themselves to their political crusades, for, without them, they aren’t powerful. It’s disgusting and abusive and detrimental to so many lives.

Let’s change the landscape. Let’s push to get military recruiters out of high schools. Let’s save lives.
