Currently civic unrest is taking place in major Myanmar cities to protest the illegal takeover of government by a military junta. The junta cut off all Internet and communication to large parts of the country, while people are protesting on the streets.

The situation is dangerous, and serious human rights violations may be committed. We, the undersigned, many of us citizens of the United States, request that our government take steps to monitor the situation. We believe US assets can be used to monitor possible human rights violations, and we demand that our government now deploy those assets to stop and deter such violations from occurring, and to make it possible to hold those responsible to account.
