Before congress cuts any so-called entitlements--Social Security, Medicare, Unemployment, Medicaid and Welfare--cut the billions in subsidies to oil companies, agribusiness, multinationals and other huge corporations that do not need to get rich from our tax dollars.
The billions of dollars going to companies from the federal budget distorts the free-enterprise system. Adam Smith decried what he called "bonuses" as undermining the market system. Companies should prosper by competing; they don't need to fatten themselves at the government trough.
Cut corporate welfare before you touch any spending on real people.
