Why this petition matters

Real democracy is being denied to the people of Pakistan. We strongly suspect that our ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan’s democratically elected government has been ousted and replaced by known convicts through foreign involvement. We fail to find another example in democracy to compare with what has happened in our homeland where a clear majority of a democratically elected government in the parliament has been crushed to a minority through horse-trading and foreign support. Subsequently, a corrupt mafia comprising of several parties who have been the worst of political enemies for decades and have never had a common ideology, have been brought together and installed in power. It is obvious, from the very nature of its composition, that the new government, enforced upon the people of Pakistan, has a strong US backing. We see this as a grave threat to the sovereignty of our country and the freedom of our people.

The struggle of Pakistanis is for genuine democracy. We want to ensure that this US supported government is not able to use its powers against the people of Pakistan. We stand with true democracy, internal and external peace and freedom of expression that is being denied to Pakistanis since this US backed regime change. The voice of free media has been strongly suppressed by the current government with complete blackout of any TV channel that supports the ousted government. We are now relying on social media such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube to access the truth. Many journalists and media houses are constantly receiving threats and fear for their lives and unjust involvement in fake legal cases for standing by the truth.

We stand by the basic human rights of freedom of expression, true democracy and internal and external peace for every Pakistani.

We urge to call for free and fair elections immediately to legitimize the mandate and let the will of the people of Pakistan prevail.
