Urgent Visas for Afghan journalists and entertainers

Urgent Visas for Afghan journalists and entertainers

The Australian Afghan Community calls on the Australian government to urgently grant visas for journalists and cultural figures who are actively being pursued by the Taliban.
Afghani Australian, Nasrin Azizi, from Resolution Community Services, is supporting the visa applications, at no charge, for the high profile people whom it is understood the Taliban plans to make an example of, to further intimidate the Afghan people.
The visa applications have been supported and we implore the Australian government to act quickly, as any delay will result in people being tortured, or even killed, by the Taliban regime.
These people, many of them women, have spent their lives promoting freedom of expression, encouraged by the West, and are now are terrified that they, and their families, will be killed for believing it was possible.
Nasrin and the Australian Afghan Community ask the government to act quickly so that the Taliban does not completely silence the voices of Afghan people. Please allow them to come to Australia where their talent, hard work and resilience would only be of benefit to the Australian community.
