Urgent! Rebuild Breezy Point Sand Dune & Install T-Groins/Jetties on Bay

from on .

As TAXPAYERS, residents, voters and friends of Breezy Point, New York, we are asking for your immediate support in the rebuilding of our Sand Dunes that were decimated by Hurricane Sandy. As you well know, a dune line is Mother Nature’s first line of defense to protect our community in the event of powerful storms, surges and flooding.

In Hurricane Sandy's aftermath, most of Breezy Point’s dunescape was flattened, leaving our community once partially shielded by dunes of sand and vegetation, vulnerable to the elements.

Dunes protect lives, personal property, businesses and residential homes from the sea. Dunes are essential infrastructure.

In addition to the dune line, we ask that you support us financially, in acquiring the necessary Jetties and T-Groins needed on the Bay Side of Breezy Point.

This about protecting our community, mitigating future disasters, lowering insurance rates and saving the city, state and federal governments future financial burdens in the likely event of another weather related disaster.

We are aware that the Hamptons received $700 Million dollars for their Montauk Beaches, yet we have not gotten any help with ours.

Breezy Point was featured in an awful lot of photo-ops… as we were one of the hardest hit communities by Hurricane Sandy, yet we have not gotten the help we need.

In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, we were promised assistance.

Yet, when the vital necessity to our survival, the replenishing & rebuilding of lost dunes and the establishment of T-Groins and Jetties are ignored, we realize that perhaps we were misled.
