Preserve Access to Important Rheumatology Medicines in Medicare

Medicare beneficiaries and the providers who care for them face significant complexities in managing care and treatment options associated with rheumatic conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis. This will significantly worsen under a newly proposed regulation from the Medicare agency that mandates your rheumatologist's participation in an initiative that is poised to adversely impact Medicare patients' access to life-saving and life-changing mediations, including biologics, which are currently covered under Medicare Part B.

Your rheumatologist believes that government-led initiatives should be developed and implemented in a targeted, patient-centered and transparent way that accounts for the unique needs of Medicare beneficiaries, like you, and with input from affected stakeholders, including physicians and Medicare beneficiaries. It is for this reason we urge you to ask the Medicare agency to permanently withdraw its proposal, known as the "Part B Drug Payment Model," from consideration.
