Urge Washington State grocers to support labeling of genetically engineered foods.

As a parent I make a lot of decisions for my family. Some are big: which car to buy or school district to live in. Some are smaller: low sodium or regular chicken broth, creamy or crunchy peanut butter, powdered or liquid laundry detergent.

One of my daughters doesn’t like crunchy so creamy is the easy choice. Sometimes knowing what the right choice is can be complicated. But as long as I have the information I need I can make the decision for myself.

When it comes to shopping for groceries I have lots of information to help me choose what to feed my family: there are labels for sodium and sugar levels, natural and artificial flavoring, and wild or farmed salmon.

But there are no labels for genetically engineered foods.

I want to make the right choices for my family, but the only way I can do that is if I have the information I need. And without a label, how can I make any decision, let alone the right one for my family.

This is why I’m urging my local grocers to give me the information I need to make informed decisions about what I feed my family.

I’m starting this petition to urge grocers to support Washington State’s labeling initiative so that I can make my own choices about buying genetically engineered food or not.
