Victory over Violence!

Jan 25, 2016 — CERESAV is so pleased to announce that we received word from the Attorney General’s Office that the Toxic Chemicals Prohibition and Control Bill 2015 has been signed in to law! We are so grateful to President Museveni and the Ugandan Parliament who made this possible!

We also deeply appreciate the support of all of you who signed our petition, showing that you stand in solidarity with us in calling for "ZERO tolerance to Acid Violence"! This is indeed a #VictoryOverViolence and we want to be sure you know how grateful we are to all of you!!! We wouldn't do it without you.

The signing of this bill into law is a very important first step. But, we must advocate for the fair and consistent implementation of this law. And given that the Toxic Chemicals bill is broad in nature and inadequate in fully addressing the crime of acid violence, CERESAV will also be calling for a separate bill that specifically addresses acid violence.

To learn more about these important next steps, please visit our website at http://ceresav.org, where we have links to videos and articles explaining these next steps. You can also keep informed of updates on our facebook and Twitter page.

Again, thank you so much for your support and for sharing in this important victory with us!
