Like many of us, this man shouldered a fear, a fear involving the protection of the well-being of people around him. He did what most of society hardly dares to do, standing up to unabashed, abusive youths at Stockport bus station. His dismissal from his role as a Stagecoach bus driver is unjust and does not reward the courage he showed.

Considering the fact that in the UK, a reported 17% of people have encountered an act of public disorder in 2019-2020, according to the Crime Survey for England and Wales, it's clear that his brave act shouldn't go unnoticed. He became more than a bus driver that day; he was a defender of public security.

The unfair dismissal of employees in such circumstances can contribute to a culture of silence and fear. To acknowledge his courage and to stand against anti-social behaviour, we request Stagecoach Buses to reinstate his employment and formally recognize the courage he exemplified during that incident.

We cannot afford to let fear govern our society or our workplaces. Let's honor this brave man by supporting his reinstatement. Stand with us. Sign this petition, and acknowledge that actions against public harassment should be rewarded, not reprimanded.
