Urge Moline to Acquire Rose Lawn Cemetery

Urge Moline to Acquire Rose Lawn Cemetery

The Issue

The Rose Lawn Cemetery has always been a place of remembrance for the residents of Moline. As you may remember, it has had a checkered past and required intervention after it was placed in court ordered receivership in 2008, but now after years of hard work it offers solace and a place to reflect for many in our community. I am wishing to retire after nearly 17 years of devoted service as the court ordered cemetery manager/receiver. Given the city's successful management of two other cemeteries, it is clear that Moline has the expertise, resources, and dedication needed to maintain such sacred grounds. My personal connection to this cemetery makes it imperative for me to see it in the hands of those who will preserve its beauty and importance.

Rose Lawn Cemetery is not only a resting place for our loved ones but also an integral part of our community's heritage. It symbolizes our history, our respect for those who came before, and our dedication to upholding their memories. Seeing how well-maintained and respected similar sites are under the city's care, it only seems fitting that Moline takes the reins of Rose Lawn Cemetery to ensure it continues to be a valued space for generations to come.

Statistics show that maintaining cemeteries under public ownership often results in better maintenance, more community involvement, and enhanced accessibility. Public ownership would ensure that the cemetery is not only preserved but also continuously improved and celebrated as a place of heritage.

By urging the City of Moline to take ownership of Rose Lawn Cemetery, we are advocating for its future, not just as a resting place, but as a part of our collective community experience. Together, we can ensure that Rose Lawn remains the beautiful, peaceful, and respected site it deserves to be.

Join us in calling on the City of Moline to preserve the integrity and sanctity of Rose Lawn Cemetery. Your signature and support are vital in making this change happen. Sign the petition today to let our voices be heard.
