Please add your signature to the letter written by John Scales Avery of the Nobel Prize-winning Pugwash group against nuclear prolifertion, to urge the Honorable Jimmy Carter to travel to North Korea.
This is about as important as it gets. Former president Jimmy Carter turns 93 October 1st. He is willing to travel again to North Korea. The unthinkable - an atomic war - is now a real possibility and who else can speak for us sensibly?
CARTER SAYS THAT HE MIGHT GO TO NORTH KOREA HIMSELF.
This new article from September 14, contains a video, in which Jimmy Carter says the following:
“The first thing I would do is treat the North Koreans with respect.
"I know what the North Koreans want.
"What they want is a firm treaty guaranteeing North Korea that the US will not attack them or hurt them in any way, unless they attack one of their neighbors.
"But the United States has refused to do that.”
Carter said he would send his top person to Pyongyang immediately, adding:
“If I didn’t go myself.” The former president visited North Korea three times between 1994 and 2011.
"Until we're willing to talk to them and treat them with respect as human beings, which they are, then I don't think we'll make any progress."
